AK47 - look at all the different groups/forces/gangs etc. all over the world that use the damn things. Realitively cheap, a seemingly endless supply of them, doesn't take an instrunctional to figure out how to use it, and it gets the job done.
Quality over quantity, so M4 must be better (Though AK47 was and is a good one, too). It is a much newer rifle, much more reliable, made of better material, has much lower recoil and, when you compare basic m4 and ak47, the M4 has a RIS for various optics and launchers. I have to say I only fired the Kalashnikov, but fps games do provide you with some basic idea, don't they?
AK 47 is more reliable than m4. Fact is that it is one of the most reiable and powerful assault rifle in the world. AK 47 problem is lack of accuracy on greater distance. What is more important you should compare ak 74 or ak-105 and m4 if you want to do it honestly - ak 47 was invented in 47-48' , ak 74 in 74-76' , ak 105 in 90's and m4 in 90's so it is kinda not fair ;p but still ak 74 is quite similar to m4 with better reliability.
Like Soul said, there is a reason that most military groups, mercenaries and terrorists us ak series. It's cheap, efficient and deadly and usually it is more reliable with easier ammo suppies in most of the 3-rd world.
Definitly AK family. The American m4s and m16s are not that reliable, they tend to break and need to be constantly cleaned and maintained. The ak familes have higher recoil, but they are much more reliable, cheap. This weapon can kill, so even though its old, it fulfills its role.
You are right about the M16, but The M4 does not break down that often - and definitely much less than old AK47s. You know... the price of the 47 is low for a reason, and usually the good stuff is expensive.
I watched a program that asked which was the best the m16 or the AK47. The program focused heavily on the Vietnam war this was because it was the first major war the two weapons went directly head to head. The program decided the AK was clearly the better weapon as the question mostly depends on the environment the gun will be used. In the jungles of Vietnam the AK was clearly proven to be the more suitable as it penetrated cover easily with a heavier round and proved more reliable than the high maintenance M16. Other factors edged the AK such as the M16 required more precision and the AK could be left for weeks without oil and in the jungles varying weather conditions (humid, wet and dry).
As you have said M4 vs AK id have to say M4 as it's a carbine, more suitable for all round-general purpose and different to the full AK 47 assault rifle which is mostly suited for stopping power and a bit of range. Its not a fair contest though you should have asked M4 Vs AKs 74 which is the equivalent to the M4.
Well Muody if we compare reliability og guns when m4 will have 50 years more it will be fair that's first. Second is indeed it allways depends on situation still my friend was shooting from ak47 which lays in mud than in snow and next day it was shooting after a while of shaking when m4 is not capable to such a performance. Still m4 is more accurate and better on longer distances.
